Francis Kenny, ASC
FRANCIS KENNY, ASC was born in Indianapolis, IN. Having spent much of his childhood in his test pilot grandfather's `co-pilot seat, he recalls being exposed to "the ultimate screen of moving images.” Francis has traveled to over twenty countries shooting documentaries which eventually led to his photographing the Academy Award Feature Documentary, He Makes Me Feel Like Dancin. His feature film credits include Heathers, New Jack City, She's All That, Jason's Lyric, Coneheads, Harriet the Spy, Finder’s Fee, and Nic Roeg’s Cold Heaven. His television credits include Bruce Beresford’s mini series Bonnie and Clyde and Flint. Episodic credits include Greenleaf, Justified, and SWAT which is currently in-production. Francis is an Active Member in the American Society of Cinematographers, having served 15 years as the ASC Membership Committee Chairman, three terms on the ASC Board of Governors, creator of the ASC Photographic Collection, as well as on the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science Cinematographer's Executive Committee. Francis has taught cinematography at UCLA and lectured at AFI and the CCC. In 2012 he received the ASC's Presidents Award.
